I’m Gigi Ridgway, an artist devoted to turning emotion into something you can hold in your hands.

My story

I was born and raised in the south of Brazil, where my creative journey began early—designing my own clothes while my mother brought them to life under my watchful, imaginative direction. That childhood curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for design and storytelling.

A woman with curly red hair sitting at a white table, painting watercolor pictures with brushes and paints in front of her, against a blue wall.

Crafted with care

My path led me through the world of fashion, from working behind the scenes as a designer’s assistant to creating visual experiences through window displays. I studied fashion formally and was honored to be accepted into the American School of Arts in Los Angeles. While I discovered that sewing itself wasn’t where my heart belonged, I found something deeper: a love for expressing feeling through visual composition, color, and concept.

Painting of a person with blue pants and red shoes, signed ''GIGI 23'' on a white background.
A cartoon illustration of Pluto, the Disney character, depicting a yellow dog wearing a red collar.
A note card with a colorful flower illustration at the top, placed inside a brown paper envelope. The card contains an inspirational quote about passion and creativity.
My Work

Today, I create one-of-a-kind greeting cards—each piece a small work of art, designed to capture moments that words alone cannot fully express. My work is inspired by human connection, nostalgia, and the beauty of heartfelt communication.

Line drawing of a heart-shaped object with a long tail, similar to a swooping piece of ribbon or decorative element, accompanied by two small heart shapes above it.
A woman sitting at a table in an art studio, painting colorful abstract art on paper with brushes, with easels and art supplies in the background.
Sketches of various dogs with the quote, 'Art is my addiction' in handwritten text.
Line drawing of a bouquet of flowers on the right side of a black background, with the left side empty.

Every card I make carries a piece of my journey, crafted not just to be given, but to be felt.

Four watercolor paintings of flowers on white paper, featuring pink roses, light pink flowers with green leaves, red and pink flowering plant, and yellow flowers with green stems and leaves.

Alongside my work as an artist, I teach watercolor here in South Florida. Over the years, I've seen how art can become a quiet form of healing — a space where people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and discover a voice they didn't know they had. Watching my students grow in confidence and develop their own artistic style has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey.

Teaching & Creative Healing

A Multi-Medium Approach

A black silhouette of a kingfisher bird perched on a branch against a black background.

I primarily work with watercolor for its soft, fluid nature and the way it captures emotion and light. There’s something special about how it moves and blends, often guiding the piece in its own quiet way.

I also use acrylics and markers on recycled plastic to explore texture and give new life to discarded materials, bringing a more playful energy to my work.

Gouache is another favorite medium of mine. Its opacity allows me to add depth, contrast, and soft highlights when I want certain details to gently stand out.

“From start to finish, working with Gigi was pleasant and stress free. The cards for the wedding were perfect and beyond what we could have imagined.”
